Late Friday night, a significant fire broke out near the Rithala Metro Station in Rohini, Delhi, affecting numerous shanties. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported that they received an alert about the blaze around 10:56 PM, prompting the dispatch of 15 fire engines to the scene. Firefighters are currently engaged in efforts to extinguish the flames.

Initial reports indicate that several shanties have been completely destroyed. According to police sources, multiple LPG cylinders exploded, exacerbating the fire and causing panic among residents.

Response to the Fire

Initially, 15 fire engines were deployed, but as the fire spread rapidly, additional units were called in to manage the situation. Police confirmed that the explosions led to widespread fear, forcing many individuals to flee their homes in the middle of the night.

Cause of the Fire

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated in one shanty and quickly spread to adjacent structures, fueled by the explosions of several LPG cylinders. The blasts intensified the flames, engulfing multiple shanties within minutes and causing chaos as residents sought safety.

A DFS official stated, "Our teams are working diligently to control the fire. We have requested the police to keep onlookers at a distance." As a precaution, the area has been cordoned off.
